Referral Partners

Precision Psychological Assessments partners with pediatricians, psychiatrists, therapists, school teams, educational consultants, pre-law and pre-med advisors, disability services offices, and employers who need a clear answer to a diagnostic or functional question. When someone in your care needs a thorough evaluation, defensible accommodations documentation, or diagnostic clarification, we make the referral straightforward and return findings you can act on.

Who We Work With

Pediatricians & Primary Care Providers

When screening raises concerns about attention, learning, development, or mood, we provide comprehensive evaluations such as ADHD testing, autism testing, and child psychological testing, with findings shared back to you.

Therapists & Psychiatrists

When treatment stalls or the diagnostic picture is unclear, a diagnostic mental health assessment, personality testing, or mood testing can clarify diagnosis and sharpen treatment planning.

Schools, IEP Teams & Educational Consultants

We provide psychoeducational testing, independent educational evaluations, and school accommodations documentation that maps findings to IEP and 504 decisions.

Pre-Law, Pre-Med & Disability Services Offices

For students seeking testing accommodations on the LSAT, MCAT, bar exam, GRE, or in college, we document functional impairment to the standards reviewers expect.

Tutors, Learning Specialists & Gifted Programs

When a student is not progressing as expected, testing for dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, giftedness, or twice-exceptional profiles explains why and guides next steps.

For Clinicians: Referral Questions We Answer

Evaluations are conducted by Dr. Alan Jacobson, a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years of experience. Typical referral questions include:

Accommodations reports follow our CLEAR Framework for Documenting Functional Impairment, linking test results to real-world limitations and the legal standards reviewers apply. See types of psychological testing for the full range of services.

Scope: Evaluations answer diagnostic and functional questions; they do not include ongoing therapy. When treatment is indicated, we refer back to you or coordinate with Dr. Jacobson’s therapy practice. Accommodations decisions rest with the testing agency, school, or employer, and no evaluation can guarantee approval.

Coordinated Care Across Our Network

Precision Psychological Assessments is part of Foresight Psychological Institute. When an evaluation points to next steps, we can connect clients to psychotherapy and coaching or to Therapeutic Tutoring for structured academic and executive function support, keeping the referring professional informed throughout.

How to Refer a Client, Patient, or Student

Have the family or client schedule an initial consultation, or contact us directly with the referral question. With written consent, we will confirm the connection and keep you informed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have the client or family book an initial consultation through our online scheduler, or reach out through the contact page. The most helpful thing you can share is a clear referral question, such as ruling ADHD in or out or documenting the need for exam accommodations. Once the client signs a release, we confirm receipt of the referral and coordinate next steps with you directly.
Helpful records include prior psychological or psychoeducational reports, school records, IEP or 504 plans, report cards, relevant medical history, and any rating scales you have already collected. For accommodations cases, prior accommodation history and score reports are especially important, because reviewers look for a consistent history of impairment. None of this is required to begin, but it makes the evaluation more efficient and the conclusions stronger.
Yes, with the client’s written authorization. Referring professionals can receive the full psychological testing report or a summary of findings and recommendations, depending on what the client consents to share. We are also glad to schedule a brief call to review results, discuss diagnostic impressions, and plan how recommendations will be carried out in treatment, school, or workplace settings, so findings translate into practical change.
Yes. Accommodations documentation is a core specialty. Evaluations are designed around the specific documentation guidelines of each testing body or institution, and reports connect test data to functional limitations using the CLEAR Framework. Approval decisions rest with the agency or school, but a thorough, standards-aligned report gives the applicant the strongest possible case. We are happy to talk through a specific case before you refer. See law and medical school accommodations.
Dr. Jacobson is licensed in Massachusetts, California, New Hampshire, and New York, with locations serving Massachusetts, San Diego, and New York City. Some components, such as interviews and feedback sessions, can be completed by secure telehealth, while others depend on the measures used. During the consultation, we will explain which format fits the referral question. Families outside these areas are welcome to ask. See all locations.
No. Many referrals come precisely because the diagnostic picture is unclear. A good evaluation starts from the questions you and the client have, not from an assumed answer. Whether the concern is attention, learning, mood, social communication, or work performance, we design the battery around the referral question and report what the data show, including when the findings point somewhere other than expected.
